As Japan's Diet debates legislation considered to be the most important since the end of the Second World War, the opposition is in disarray and seemingly at a loss as to what to do to oppose Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's plans.
Abe's plan to allow Japan's armed forces to join military activities abroad and defend foreign allies has come under attack from many quarters, even from scholars who support his ruling party. Instead of giving succour to the divided opposition there seems little doubt that Abe will prevail in the face of rising popular opposition and demonstrations in the streets.
One of those parties is the Japan Innovation Party (Ishin no To), born out of the shambles of Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto and former Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara's Japan Restoration Party, which quickly ran out of steam after briefly storming into the national political discourse in 2012
But the Japan Innovation Party, the second biggest opposition party in the Diet, is itself divided over how to deal with Abe's plans and is struggling to come up with alternative proposals.
The party's leader, Yorihisa Matsuno, along with Jiro Ono, the chairman of the Diet Security Investigation Committee, and Setsu Kobayashi, a professor of constitutional law from Keio University will come to the club to lay out their ideas for alternative security legislation.
Come and listen them to speak at this critical juncture in Japan's history.
