If you have hosted a visitor from abroad in the last few years, most of them were surely to have asked for a reservation at Sukiyabashi Jiro - especially if they had seen the 2011 film starring the diminutive 89-year-old rock star sushi chef. And most of them surely would have been unsuccessful, as the Michelin-starred restaurant only has 10 seats and is booked up many months ahead by A-listers such as actor Hugh Jackman and singer Katy Perry as well as fellow celebrity chefs Joel Robuchon and Rene Redzepi, who owns the world's top ranked eatery NOMA.
Earlier this year, U.S. President Barack Obama dropped in for a meal with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Sukiyabashi Jiro as awarded three stars by the Michelin Guide Tokyo in 2007 and has held on to the stars every year since then.
Ono will be joined by food critic Masuhiro Yamamoto, whose 1982 guidebook Tokyo Taste Grand Prix introduced Jiro to the world. Yamamoto has also co-authored Ono's latest gastronomy book.
Come and hear from the octogenarian master, who still attends to his customers every night behind the counter at his Ginza shop.
